Alien Knights

Chapter 475: Return home

   Todd had a long dream.

In his dream, he was in a different world without him.

In the universe of that world, all things and all laws, without his participation, all proceed in an orderly manner according to the existing track.

Kingdoms, like the crucian carp crossing the river, are chaotic and numerous, rising today, and falling tomorrow.

All events, like nodes on a circular orbit, happen one after the other, without stopping.

He can only stand aside, as a bystander, watching the ebb and flow, the flowers blooming and fading, no matter how he shouts or struggles, he is unable to make any changes and fight for it.

Finally, a dazzling light shone in from the darkness and took him away from the endless nightmare.

Todd woke up slowly and found that his eyes were blurred, only faint light and shapes could be distinguished.

The huge dragon's body was covered with large and small wounds. One side of the dragon's wings was almost completely broken, leaving only a few bones connected. The whole dragon scales fell from the explosion, revealing the bright red flesh film below.

Todd wanted to speak, but found that his vocal cords were also severely damaged, and he could only make some vague noises.

"It's a miracle that you can survive." Meredith's voice suddenly appeared in Todd's mind: "When I found you, you were like a bunch of sausages hanging in a bazaar."

Todd opened his eyes wide and looked forward. Apart from a vague figure, he couldn't make out any more.

Meredith's voice sounded again: "You just lie here, don't think about moving around."

Todd responded in his mind: "Where am I?"

"The Kingdom of Shadows, when I rescued you from the battlefield, it took a lot of work."

Hearing Meredith's answer, Todd was taken aback subconsciously.

This woman brought herself from the battlefield back to the land of shadows?

Dragon-shaped body, weighing dozens of tons, how did she do it?

Putting aside this question for now, Todd asked again: "How is my body injury? How long will it take to heal completely?"

"It's hard to say, although my teacher Skaha took care of you, your injury is still very serious. As for you want to know when you can heal, I am afraid I can't give you an exact time."

Todd was silent for a moment, then asked again: "How long have I been in a coma?"

   "Five months."

"What did you say?!" Hearing this answer, Todd was anxious, struggling to get up, the pain in his whole body forced him to lie down again.

Meredith said helplessly: "I just finished telling, you forgot what I said. You have not healed from the injury, so don't think about moving around."

Todd realized that he could not move at all, he sighed slightly, and slowly fell silent.

"I still remember the explosion in the battle with Kuchurin, but what happened afterwards?"

Meredith recalled as he said: "The fire and vibration from that explosion can be clearly felt even if I am far away in the Kingdom of Shadows. When I arrived on the battlefield, it had already become an approximate A huge pit two kilometers wide and nearly a hundred meters deep."

Hearing this, Todd was a little puzzled. The power of spore parasites is indeed great, but it is not so great, right?

Perhaps, in the tyrant body of Cú Chulainn, there is an organ that digests the corpse, which contains the flammable gas produced during digestion? (Mainly carbon dioxide, methane and sulfur-based gases)

Meredith continued to narrate: "When I arrived, the Valkyrie, who was quite hostile to me, was already digging out the explosion site with a group of people crazy. After some coercion and temptation from me, finally Persuading them to let me take your body away."

"In the first month of returning to the Kingdom of Shadows, you couldn't see the original appearance at all. Fortunately, my teacher Skaha extended a helping hand in time, so that you can save your life."

Todd let out a long sigh: "That...Kuchulin, he..."

"You ask him? Although my teacher told me to bring back Kuchulin's body... But in the deep pit, it is no exaggeration to say that there are all kinds of flesh and limbs scattered everywhere, and it is impossible to tell the difference. Which wreck belongs to that guy."

Meredith said helplessly: "I have always been surprised, why would my teacher care about that kind of stubborn and conservative guy?"

Thinking of what Cú Chulainn said to himself before the change, Todd said with emotion: "Perhaps it is because of Cú Chulainn's stubbornness and conservativeness that Skaha feels that his soul has special value, right?"

Meredith approached Todd, patted the latter's dragon's head with his hand, and said in a pun: "There is a saying that seems correct. The person who knows him best is often not a relative, but an enemy... "

Feeling Meredith go farther and farther, Todd couldn't help shouting in his mind: "Hey, where are you going?"

Meredith said angrily: "Of course it is to inform your lovers that you are already awake! Otherwise, the group of people will come over and make trouble every time. Do you think I would like to see them?!"

Todd shrank his neck and closed his mouth.

Twilight West City, Twilight West Cathedral.

Alfonso, dressed in black armor and carrying a large sword, looked at Huggins, who was walking towards him with a limping leg, and was full of emotion for a while.

Harkins walked up to Alfonso, punched the other's breastplate hard, laughed and said, "How long have we not seen each other?! Two years? Three years?"

Alfonso whispered: "I'm in the north..."

Hudgens hurriedly stopped the other person talking: "Well, I know, don't talk about your Majesty’s things here... By the way..."

Looking at Alfonso, who was heavily armed, Huggins tapped on his helmet: "In Twilight, you don't need to carry this iron bucket at all."

Alfonso hesitated: "I am wearing a keel, you should know, those on my head..."

"It's okay, it's okay!" Huggins said with a smile: "The alien has already become a part of Muxicheng, let alone showing its head, even if you take off the iron armor and walk around wearing the keel, it doesn't matter much."

took the believable Alfonso off his helmet, and the parasite limbs on the top of his head slowly stretched out, and began to twist and swing continuously.

The people from the surrounding areas who came to the cathedral to worship, just glanced at Alfonso, and proceeded with their own affairs.

Alfonso looked around for a while, feeling a little calm: "The cross I brought, your majesty confess..."

"That matter has been handled by Lord Emerson with full authority, you don't have to worry about these things..." Huggins pointed out the door: "I haven't been back to West Side for a long time, otherwise, I will take you out for a walk."

"But, your Majesty also told me that I will be responsible for taking away some people."

Hudgens waved his hand: "That matter is not in a hurry, I will let you see them later."

Alfonso spread his hands out: "In that case, I want to go to a place first."

Harkins suddenly said: "Oh, yes, I think I know where you are going..."

One hour later, Alfonso and Huggins stood in a cemetery. The former placed a bunch of flowers on the tombstone.

"Adelina..." Huggins looked at the name on the tombstone, thoughtfully: "It's the woman who died in the defense of Muxi."

"I owe her a lot..." Alfonso, who knelt on one knee, slowly stood up: "A lot..."

Looking around, Alfonso asked, "There seems to be a lot of tombstones here?"

Huggins nodded: "Your Majesty has ordered this hill to be designated as the Kingdom Cemetery. Only those who have made a great contribution to the country can be buried here after death. No one, for any purpose, can be expropriated. Or use this land."

Alfonso sighed, "It turned out to be like this, now think about it... I owe your Majesty a lot..."

Hudgens nodded: "Let's go, go around the city."

The two who left the cemetery, sat in the carriage, followed the clean and wide streets, and began their journey of city tour.

"Twilight West City now has more than 220,000 residents. If you include tourists, laborers, and sailors, it will probably exceed 500,000."

Hudgens pointed to the crowded street while proudly saying: “Looking at all the countries in the parish, even the population of the Papal States and its dependent countries is not as good as the population of Twilight City alone.”

Alfonso stretched out his head from the carriage, and said helplessly, "I would rather ride a horse than sitting on this."

Hudgens said with a smile: "The cabinet has issued a directive that horses are not allowed in downtown areas. However, members and knights are permitted to own carriages."

Looking at Hudgens’ smile, Alfonso frowned, but in the end he chose silence.

"Look there! That is the Victory Day Fountain Garden. It is the largest man-made lake garden with the most luxurious facilities in the entire continent. The huge fountain with a height of more than 20 meters in the middle of the lake cost a full 30,000 Jinxu. At night, the fountain, lake water, spotlights, and colorful glass turntable will be turned on at the same time, which will decorate this artificial lake garden like a paradise."

"There is the pilgrimage palace of the holy king, where a lot of money has been spent to build a golden statue of his majesty, and there are also valuable artworks collected from various kingdoms..."

Alfonso turned his head and interrupted Huggins's speech: "Who pays for the construction of these buildings?"

"Of course it's the cabinet. I remember that when you first left, the cabinet responsible for the kingdom's public expenditures was very poor, and sometimes even the staff's salary was borrowed from the royal family. Now everything is different, and Muxicheng becomes rich. Although the tax rate has not changed, the tax revenue is ten times the original. The cabinet can spend more money ~lightnovelpub.net~ on public construction and landscape roads. Isn't this a good thing?"

Hearing what Harkins said, Alfonso turned his head noncommittal and continued to look at the dazzling "prosperous scene" of Twilight West.

Suddenly, an unexpected thing jumped into Alfonso’s eyes, causing him to stop the carriage.

Hearing Alfonso’s shout, Huggins looked in the direction of his fingers.

A middle-aged man in ragged clothes, with two young and weak girls, shrank in the corner of the wall, looking at the passing pedestrians with help-seeking eyes.

In front of them, a wooden sign was placed. On the top, a piece of bread and a crying face were drawn with a pen, and the bottom was written crookedly in common language, "Hungry! Please give me food! 』

With a look of surprise, Alfonso pointed to the big, two and three people, and asked towards Huggins, "Are these people refugees who came to Muxi City?"

The latter took a closer look, shook his head and said, "No, these people are legitimate citizens of West Side City."

Alfonso's eyes rounded: "What did you say?! How could the legitimate citizens of Twilight West be reduced to begging on the street?!"

Hudgens lowered the curtains of the carriage and motioned to Alfonso to whisper: "It's a long story. I'll explain it to you while walking."
