Chapter 486: Welcome to Froststone City

The convoy driving in the forest, after some guidance from the battle group patrol, finally stopped in front of a simple guard post.

Alfonso jumped out of the carriage and shouted to the people in the carriage: "Come out, pass this guard post. There is a dense forest in front of you. You can only pass by on foot or on horseback."

The appearance of Carroll and Aldenan caused the atmosphere around him to stagnate.

Nearly a hundred barbarian soldiers in the guard post looked at the strong orc like a hill and the fierce and terrifying werewolf, unconsciously took up the weapons in their hands, formed a semi-circular battle formation, and carefully surrounded them.

However, Barbara, who played next, completely reversed the tension on the scene.

Barbara in a long burgundy dress has a light blue light flowing on the surface of her skin. Her exquisite facial features, melon seed-shaped face, and slightly trembling pointed ears made the barbarian warriors widen their eyes, opened their mouths, and slowly let down their weapons.

Watching the eyes of the crowd looking at Barbara, Aldenan stabbed Carroll with his elbow, and said helplessly: "Have you seen? No matter where you go, beauty is the best pass."

Carroll shrugged: "If you want to blame yourself for being ugly, just say it, no one will blame you."

   Aldenan rolled his eyes irresponsibly.

The leader of the battle group patrol went to the crowd at the guard post and said something loudly.

Soon, the barbarian warriors scattered to the sides, making way for the guests.

Walking on the simple dirt road, covering her ears with a sun visor, Barbara looked back at the barbarians who had re-entered the alert state, and whispered: "These people look very nervous, as if they are always on alert. Prepare for a war."

Aldenan used the corner of his eye to look at the dense forest on both sides of the road, where one or two vigorous figures flashed from time to time. He made a gesture, motioning everyone to move closer.

The leader of the patrol team walking in the forefront, led the team forward for about half an hour.

The road under the foot is getting wider and wider, and there are more and more pedestrians passing by.

Different from the previous guard posts, the pedestrians are no longer just warriors, blacksmiths, merchants, farmers, apprentices...people of different ages and different professions, looking at this strange group of guests, whispering incessantly.

Following the patrol captain and passing through the crowds, Aldernan looked at the huge walled city in front of him and took a breath: "Froststone City has finally arrived."

Randall glanced at the werewolf, smiled, and said nothing.

Carroll looked at the wooden wall that stretched for several kilometers in the distance, and the defenders on the wall, and whispered: "This city is bigger than I thought."

Walking into the city gate, everyone was immediately startled by the prosperity in front of them.

Looking around, there are row upon row of small stone buildings everywhere, such as sawmills, iron shops, concentrators, pubs, markets, long houses and other buildings.

On the small square in the middle of the walled city, hundreds of soldiers of the war regiment were kneeling under the huge sculpture of the black dragon, quietly listening to the shaman's prayers.

The patrol leader didn't stop, but he saluted the missionary shaman, and led the team hurriedly across the square, following the road in the city, towards the other side of the city.

Facing the knights in black armor, the warriors and people in the city cast awe in awe; but facing the werewolves and orcs behind them, these people had no scruples at all and squeezed forward to stop and watch.

Carol used his hands to separate the crowds around him as he walked, crying helplessly: "How come there are so many people in the city? Don't they need to work?"

Seeing more and more people coming up, Aldenan shouted: "We have to hurry up, I see someone coming over there again! God! There are thousands of people!"

Randall, who protected Barbara, followed Alfonso closely, and rushed out with the guards riding the horses as cover.

The patrol captain led this strange team all the way north, and it took nearly an hour to pass through the entire walled city and leave from the north gate.

Looking at the city gate further and further behind him, Aldenan said to himself with a look of confusion: "Why are we leaving? Isn't the city just now Froststone City?"

Randall explained back: "There are four sub-city in the southeast, north-west of Froststone City. The walled city we just passed by is the smallest of the four sub-cities."

Aldernan was taken aback: "Sub-city? You mean, what we saw just now was a sub-city?"

Barbara was also taken aback by Randall’s words: "That branch city just now was the smallest one?! Are you sure?! Obviously there are so many people on the street!"

"Yes. The purpose of this is to facilitate the defense of Froststone City on the one hand, and to reduce the population pressure brought by the city on the other." Randall shrugged and continued: The main task is to be responsible for the extraction of resources such as wood and ore. Because it is close to the Falling Star Mountain Range and close to Muxi City, the city's defenses are relatively simple, the number of troops stationed is the least, and the permanent population is also the smallest."

"The North Division is mainly to respond to the invasion of the two hostile countries in the north, so the city has the most complete defense and the largest number of troops stationed."

"East Fencheng is located in a hilly area, with a higher terrain and better sunlight. It is a plantation base for tobacco, a specialty of Froststone City, and a sacred place for shamans to meditate, find employment, and practice penance."

"Western Sub-City is located near the coastline. It is the military and trading port of Froststone City, as well as a freight and storage center. It is the largest, most populous, and most prosperous place among the four sub-cities."

Aldenan was fascinated by this, and then asked: "The four sub-cities are so far apart from each other. If the enemy bypasses the most heavily defended sub-city and attacks the weakest place first, what should I do?"

Hearing these words, Alfonso, who was riding on the horse, looked back at the werewolf, and then turned his head back.

Just as Randall was about to speak, there was a loud cry in the sky.

His eyes lit up and he raised his hands to the sky: "Look! As long as they are there, no enemy can hide!"

Aldenan, Carroll and Barbara looked in the direction of Randall’s fingers. Under the dazzling sunlight, a griffon exuding golden brilliance, carrying a hand-held spear, bows and arrows on its back, and its head The woman wearing a feather crown soars in the air, overlooking the earth.

Watching the heroic Valkyrie galloping by in the air, Barbara’s eyes sparkled, as if there were stars shining in it: “It’s so beautiful! If you have pen and paper at hand, I swear, I can Write the best hymn!"

Aldenan sighed slightly: "I never thought that I could see the legendary Valkyrie in my lifetime."

Carol, who is not good at words, heard Aldenan’s sigh, opened his eyes, clenched his fists in an uncomfortable way~lightnovelpub.net~ and nodded heavily.

Watching the Valkyrie fly farther and farther, and finally disappeared in the sky, Randall waved and said to the person beside him: "Turn over the hillside in front, and you can see Froststone City."

At the reminder of Randall, everyone hurriedly stepped up, stepping on the uphill stone steps, and climbing up the hill in front of them.

A light breeze blew over the high hills, blowing away the tall grass poles on the hillside, and also blowing away the heavy shelter in front of everyone.

Under the sunset, a huge city lies quietly on the ground, densely packed buildings and streets are arranged compactly, spreading in all directions from the foot of the mountain, and you can't see the head at a glance.

Even from a few kilometers away, you can see countless long dragons connected by colorful lights, illuminating the entire city; smoke rising from the chimneys of thousands of households embellish the whole land like a dream.

The afterglow of the setting sun shone on the towering shrine in the middle of the city. The eight huge stone pillars with black dragons carved in it, under the sun, the golden light is so brilliant, so beautiful. From a distance, it seems that the entire city is built on the clouds, and the heaven and the earth have become its foil.

Randall stood on the hillside and uttered a happy shout at the distant city, then turned his head, and said to the three people who had been immersed in the beauty around him: "Everyone, welcome to Froststone City!"
