Alien Knights

Chapter 720: Leaving and leaving between lovers

The souls of Rachel, Evie, and Meredith were drawn into Sutherland's soul space.

In the gorgeous sunset, accompanied by the soft sound of insects, and the pleasant breeze blowing over the heavy grapes, Sutherland’s manor is quietly located on the hills.

Meredith looked at the distant manor, slowly widening his eyes, whispering something unconsciously, and walked forward unconsciously.

Evie glanced at Meredith and asked Rachel, "What is she talking about?"

Richel: "Ancient Tyro, that's my home."

A group of three people walked slowly down the steps on the **** to the gate of the manor.

At the door stood a middle-aged woman and a pair of young men and women.

Meredith walked in front of the middle-aged woman, stretched out a trembling hand, wanted to touch the latter's face, but was afraid of something and hesitated.

Sutherland walked out of the manor, looked at the three women who came, stretched out his hand and made a welcome gesture.

Meredith suddenly rushed over, grabbed Sutherland’s clothes, and said loudly: "These are just illusions created by you! My mother, my brothers and sisters are dead!"

Sutherland did not resist, and said softly: "After I had a body, I asked the soul-calling alien species in the Presbyterian Church to store their souls in my body... But because time was too long, I only found three of them. Moreover, the souls of the three of them have been worn to different degrees. As for the others..."

Meredith opened her mouth, turned her head to look at her smiling mother, her mouth opened slightly, and the whole person was struck by lightning: "So...they are all real..."

Ignoring the plot of the reunion of these relatives, Evie rushed to Sutherland and asked, "Where is Todd?"

Sutherland turned sideways and stepped aside.

   Evie rushed into the manor.

Rachel followed Evie. When passing by Sutherland, the former looked up at the latter, without saying a word.

rushed into the vestibule of the manor, Evie was in the garden and found Todd who stopped in front of the flowers.

rushed over and hugged Todd, Evie let out a sigh of relief: "Great, you're all right."

Todd patted Evie on the back, his face was slightly bitter.

   "How's Twilight West?"

Hearing Todd’s question, Evie raised her head and said: "Wayne has created a deadly vaccine. The fortifications have been basically completed. Everyone vowed to coexist and die with the city..."

   Todd nodded slightly.

Rachel walked into the garden and stood opposite Todd.

This scene is like a pair of lovers meeting again after centuries of separation.

Rachel asked in a low voice: "Will you blame me for not telling you those things?"

Todd: "Are you referring to giving up West Side City, or is it a matter of soul memory?"

Rachel's expression stagnated, and after a moment he said, "You finally remembered."

Todd: "With the help of Sutherland, I remembered some things in my previous life, some things that are longer than living on earth."

Rachel: "We were together, we tried to change everything, but..."

Todd shook his head and interrupted Rachel: "When did you realize that you have soul memory?"

Rachel: "Before, I used to visit the Presbyterian Church with Sabrina and planned to get Iliad's notes... But what I didn't expect was that my every move was under Sutherland's surveillance. Down."

Todd: "At that time, Sutherland helped you recall the memories of your previous life."

  Rachel: "Yes."

Todd: "But I don't understand. After I took you back to Twilight City, I have seen you many times in the soul space, but I have never seen any soul fluctuations in your body..."

Todd stopped for a moment when he said this.

Soon, he said again: "I understand, Sutherland has done some protection for your soul to avoid being seen by others."

Todd sighed slightly: "That is, from that time on, you and Sutherland reached some kind of agreement. You helped him contain and transfer the alien group, and he promised you to give you an escape before the end. the road."

Evie took off the spear from behind, pointed at Rachel's chest, and said in a cold voice: "You betrayed your vow."

Facing Evie’s weapon, Rachel's expression remained unchanged, and he slowly said: "I have never betrayed my vow, but the object of my vow is only Todd, not Twilight."

Todd stretched out his hand, pressed Evie’s spear, and said to Rachel: "Is there a difference between giving up on West Side and giving up on me?"

Seeing the sadness in Todd's expression, Rachel's eyes slowly softened: "Todd, we discussed this a long time ago..."

"You can't shelter Twilight City forever, shelter everything there, you will leave sooner or later... For me, Twilight City where you exist is a place that can be called home. If you are gone, In my opinion, that city is no different from a pile of rocks."

Todd: "There is the city you and I used to build by ourselves. We watched it with our own eyes. It changed from a deserted beach to what it is today."

Richel: "It is impossible for a child to live under the wings of his parents forever. Sooner or later, he must learn to be self-reliant and grow independently."

Todd took a step closer to Rachel, and said in a deep voice: "However, if the whole family is on the verge of destruction, the parents will never leave at this time, leaving only the child to face unknown dangers! Rachel, Do you understand? Now is not the right time to leave!"

Rachel: "There has never been a suitable or inappropriate time. You lend a hand this time, what about the next time? What's more, the destruction of this world is unavoidable. There is always future…"

Todd closed his eyes and smiled bitterly: "You mean to say that even if the child is gone, you can have another one anyway, right?"

Rachel looked at Todd, took a deep breath, and said, "Even if there is no Sutherland to trigger the end of the world, the dead will still destroy everything, just like the time we experienced together in the previous life. Everything is just a nightmare. It’s nothing more than reincarnation... Todd, come with me. When we reach a new world, we can start again. With our soul memories, we can create a more perfect world."

Todd shook his head vigorously: "A more perfect world? You can't even protect everything right now, what future are you talking about?"

"If I don’t try and just assert the outcome of failure, then my previous efforts will become meaningless. Even if I escape this time, the shadow of failure will always follow me, torture me, and make me regret for the rest of my life. Endlessly."

"Think about the time we have struggled, think about the people who have fought with us, let me leave them and escape? I can't do it."

Rachel could no longer remain calm, and her volume increased a bit: "Look at the present! Under such circumstances, do you think there is a chance of winning if you stay?!"

Todd stared into Rachel’s eyes, and said firmly: "In order to protect the city, in order to protect those who trust me... Even if there is only a one-tenth probability, I will stay."

  Richel was stunned.

After a while, Rachel closed her eyes and laughed instead. While laughing, she whispered: "I should have guessed it, this is like you."

Todd looked at Rachel quietly and said: "I know that my words and deeds look like a passionate idiot to you, but even if you know that the next mortal ending is going to happen, leave other people behind and run away. ...I still can't do it. So..."

Rachel opened his eyes and looked at Todd: "So? So what? Do you suggest that I leave alone?"

Todd shrugged and said with a wry smile: "You don't have to accompany an idiot to death..."

Rachel said blankly: "Yes, I don't have to accompany an idiot to death."

After finishing speaking, Rachel left the garden without looking back.

returned to the gate of the manor and looked at Meredith, who was holding her mother and crying. Richel walked up to Sutherland and said, "Send me away."

Sutherland glanced at Rachel: "I told you once, you can't convince him."

Rachel repeated again: "Send me away."

In an instant, Rachel's soul returned to the island in the magma.

got up from the ground, Rachel glanced at the dragon in the center of the island, and then climbed back to the platform where the alien species gathered along the cave.

When I came to Iliad, Rachel asked, "What do I have you prepared?"

Iliad looked at Rachel, frowned and asked, "Are you sure?"

  Rachel: "I'm sure."

Iliad took out a strangely shaped key from his arms and said to Rachel: "This is the key to my laboratory. Everything you want is there..."

Richel took the key and found that Iliad was hesitant to speak.

Rachel: "If you have anything to say, just say it."

Iliad: "Rachel, you should leave with us."

Rachel put the key in his arms: "No, I will stay."

   Iliad: "Because of what? Todd?"

Rachel turned around: "Because I'm an idiot."
