Mystery: The Star Key

Chapter 5: unseen eye

Igna's steps were light and slow.

When he walked up the steps, he realized that the hall was unbelievably large.

The place that can be seen now is about the same size as the golden concert hall of the Aalto Concert Hall. The fountain in the room is almost the same as the modern 25m swimming pool.

Even if the building is a little dilapidated now, you can see the splendor it once had here.

Igna doesn't know much about the knowledge of the Fourth Epoch, but judging from the interior decorations he can see so far, this should be a territory belonging to nobles.

There are 30 and 31 stone pillars on both sides of the hall.

Judging from the number alone, the owner of this building is only slightly lower than Abraham. And Abraham was already the top nobleman of the Fourth Epoch.

"It seems that the owner of this building has a lot of background." Igna secretly judged.

Moreover, after walking out of the tunnel, he could hear more voices. Not only the crackling sound of flames burning and lighting, but even the sound of water fiddled in the distance can be heard clearly.

"Wow-wow-"

The man was still fiddling with the water, and mumbling in his mouth, it seemed to be saying something.

"Eyes...where are the eyes..."

"Eyes...where are the eyes..."

Igna listened with bated breath, and could only vaguely distinguish two ancient Feysac words.

One is the question word "where", and the other is the noun "eye".

Because there were only two words, Igna couldn't connect them into sentences, so he could only roughly infer the meaning of the sentences.

And the phrase "where did the eyes go" sounds a bit incomprehensible.

"Where did the eyes go..." Igna thought to himself, "Under what circumstances would someone ask such a question?"

Then, because the voice was louder, Igna could also vaguely judge that the question "Where did the eyes go" came from a man.

Although it was impossible to tell the man's age from the sound alone, Igna could barely tell that it was a young and middle-aged man who sounded relatively weak. Because his speaking voice seemed to lack some strength, and there was a little abnormal vibrato in his articulation.

But Igna did not take it lightly, nor did he give up on this clue.

Under the cover of psychological invisibility, Igna carefully approached the sound source.

He walked very carefully, so on the approaching road, he heard a few footsteps faintly.

"Squeak—squeak—"

"Squeak—squeak—"

Obviously, it was the sound of bare feet stepping on wooden stairs. Also, the footsteps don't belong to just one person.

Igna stopped subconsciously, and looked towards the only direction in the room where the wooden stairs could be seen.

However, he couldn't see anything.

There is nothing on the stairs in the distance.

Igna couldn't help swallowing a mouthful of saliva.

But instead of panic and fear, he chose to remain calm, and listened with bated breath, trying to determine the source of the sound.

Then, he realized that these voices did not come from the distant stairs, but not far above his head. He vaguely saw a few figures on the ground.

Or strictly speaking, Igna couldn't be sure if those were people.

Because, the lightly reflected shadows on the floor made Igna feel that it might be a few tall mushrooms with limbs shaking their heads.

"There are not only humans in this world." Igna warned himself.

Instead of taking what he saw as insanity, he was extra careful.

Igna watched quietly at first.

He observed for a while, and judged from the shadow that the people on the stairs had no intention of coming down. Even, he could see that those "humanoid mushrooms with limbs" seemed to be on patrol, because they would stop after reaching a certain point, and then return.

"...21, 22, 23..."

Igna watched their steps back and forth, while silently counting the beating of his own heart.

He needs to determine the interval and timing of patrols. With the clock failing, he had to rely on his heartbeat to keep time.

His breathing is steady. After confirming that the turnaround time of the patrol was 82 heartbeats, Igna moved again.

Before entering the second floor, he had to find out who was by the fountain on the first floor.

There are too many mysteries here, and he needs more clues to know where this is.

Of course, it would be great to know more information if it is safe to do so.

Finally, after rounding the 15th pillar, Igna saw a man by the pool.

He lay on his stomach beside the water, fiddled with the water in the pool with his hands.

He didn't find Igna who had used psychological invisibility.

But Igna saw him.

This is a very weird looking person. Not referring to the face, but the overall body shape.

Even, he was so weird that Igna didn't know if he was a "human".

Because, this "person" looks like a "person" from the neck down.

First of all, he has slender limbs, and his hands and legs grow on his torso like a normal person. From his movements in the water, it can also be seen that his joint structure is no different from that of a normal person.

His clothes, below the neck, were also relatively normal clothes.

He was wearing a white gown, which looked a bit like a hospital gown. But it is slightly different from the common patient clothes now. There are leather straps on the cuffs, arms, chest, thighs and knees of this hospital gown.

The hospital gown on this person looked dirty and seemed to have not been washed for a long time. Moreover, on this hospital gown, there are blood stains of varying degrees all over the body. Among them, the blood stains on the elbows and neck were like spilled blood, layered on top of each other. I don't know how many times they were stained red by blood, dried out, and then stained several times.

This gives some chills down the spine.

Moreover, this is also the part of this "person" that is most like a "person".

As mentioned earlier, the limbs and torso of this "human" look unmistakably "human", but above his neck, there does not appear to be any human appearance.

— On the neck of this “person” is a huge cloth-like “bag”.

This "bag" is so huge that it can almost hold a sack of watermelons. Moreover, the cloth bag was uneven and covered with dirty bloodstains that were layered in layers.

Igna can be sure that no one will regard this "bag" as a mask, because this "bag" is more than ten times the size of a human head. If a person has such a big "bag" on his head, it should theoretically be able to cover his upper body. But this "bag" was filled with gas like a balloon, and it was placed on the neck of the person.

And following the man's movements, breathing and words, he was still breathing in and out.

This "bag" was so weird that even Igna thought it was not a "bag" but a wriggling external brain when he saw him for the first time.

What the **** is this?

Igna searched his guts, trying to recall what he had learned recently, but there was no answer.

Be careful, be careful and be careful. Igna warned himself.

Those "human mushrooms with limbs" that just patrolled the upstairs are probably the same thing.

All fear comes from the unknown. Only by knowing more can we know more and not be afraid.

Therefore, Igna used "psychological invisibility" to come to that "cloth-headed man" and was finally able to hear what he said.

"Has anyone, has anyone seen my eyes?" He lowered his head and fiddled with the water.

"I'm afraid... I, forgot my eyes in the water."

"Everything...is pale..."

"Has anyone, has anyone looked into my eyes?"

The man fiddled with the water with his head down, repeating words like a repeater.

"Has anyone, has anyone looked into my eyes?"

Igna opened his mouth, wanting to take the words for a moment.

However, he quickly controlled himself.

First of all, he didn't know the purpose of this "cloth-headed man" in front of him, and why he was looking for eyes here. Any blind reaching out is not advisable. The environment he is in now cannot allow him to act arbitrarily.

Secondly, he didn't know whether this "cloth-headed man" was someone he could talk to.

Currently, Igna still doesn't understand this space at all. He can only confirm that this is not a dream, but a certain space, and the flow of time seems to be disturbed. Apart from this, there is too little information.

Igna looked at the "cloth-headed man" in front of him, and initially drew up an exploration plan in his mind.

He quietly touched a stone from the ground~lightnovelpub.net~ Flipping his wrist, with a skill, the stone fell into the pool beside the "cloth-headed man".

"Ding dong—" the stone fell into the water.

The movement of the cloth-headed man did not stop for a moment.

"Has anyone, has anyone seen my eyes?" He lowered his head and fiddled with the water, like an emotionless repeater.

"I'm afraid... I, forgot my eyes in the water."

"Everything is pale..."
