The Monkey King

Chapter 492: Guanyin Temple

The sun rises slowly, and the sun shines on the earth through the gap between the clouds, leaving golden blossoms on the rolling mountains, like holy lights descending from the sky, nourishing all things.

From a distance, it feels like a dream.

On the winding mountain road, the monkey walked at the forefront with a golden hoop stick, and always kept a distance of two to three feet from Xuanzang. Xiaobailong pulled the horse and walked at the end.

Westbound all the way, the wind and frost all the way, but there is also a beautiful scenery all the way, people can't help but stop.

This road, monkeys have walked once as early as 800 years ago.

I vaguely remember the monkey who was half-squatting on the tree, holding the unripe wild orange that I finally found with both palms tightly, staring in horror and looking around with red eyes, every fluff stood up, In the end, he swallowed the orange peel.

What kind of eyes looked like at that moment, even the monkey himself couldn't tell. Perhaps it is no different from those hungry wolves in the wilderness.

At that time, he only had obsessions in his heart, only the desire to live, and only the fear of this world, and he could no longer hold any superfluous things. So many years later, in retrospect, I only remember endless hunger, endless panic, and endless cold.

A skinny monkey, but persistently wants to walk 108,000 miles barefoot, travel through **** alone, to pursue an unreachable dream... To live is to fear, to be cold, to be hungry, to be alive torment.

At that moment, for him, life had already withered to the point where only the desire to move forward remained. Only the obsession burned into the soul remains. That feeling, even after a hundred years, can't let go.

Therefore, he can rather die than give in, he has unparalleled courage, because in his heart. There was nothing but a barren desert behind him.

Since there is nothing, why fear loss? With gritted teeth, he can face any suffering head-on.

The way of seeking immortality started too early has brought endless hardships, and these hardships have given him an incomparably tenacious heart. Let him beat one opponent after another down the road. Overcome one hurdle after another.

When I saw the vermilion gate on Fangcun Mountain in Lingtai, the bitterness was beyond words.

He has even gone through such a road, what else in this world can stumped him?

Once, he thought so until the moment he faced the Tathagata.

It turns out that the most terrifying thing in this world is not nothing. But after getting it, losing it again is helpless in the face of the moment of loss.

That was the first time he bowed his head to the enemy he hated the most. For the first time, he was truly willing to be a dog in order to keep what he had.

However, the opponent did not even give him such a chance, but turned his hand and threw him into the abyss of remorse.

In that battle six hundred and fifty years ago, he really lost. He lost completely, lost to himself, and lost to that fragile heart that he had always ignored.

Struggling hard, in the end, the only thing in return is an extension of one hundred and fifty years of imprisonment. What kind of despair was that, and even anger was extinguished because the only remaining fuel was lost.

Six hundred and fifty years. Until the moment he stepped out of the Five Elements Mountain, he didn't even know how to face the world again. He could only go to the East China Sea to find Ao Tingxin, because he knew that this wise woman would not dare to offend him.

Standing on the mountainside, the monkey leaned on the golden cudgel and looked down at the rolling hills below, looking at the changing clouds in the sky.

Xuanzang passed him by, stopped and asked softly, "What are you thinking about?"

Monkey lowered his head and smiled and said, "Just remembering some old things, it's nothing."

"But there is suffering in your heart, unspeakable?"

The monkey opened his mouth slightly, but after a long time, it only turned into a sigh, and said softly: "If you can't defeat the Tathagata, I'm afraid you will never be able to get rid of this pain. Let's go, no matter what, I will send you to Lingshan Daleiyin. Temple. The Buddha blocks and kills the Buddha."

said, he leaned on the golden cudgel and moved forward step by step, leaving Xuanzang standing alone and watching silently.

The little white dragon who was at the end led the white horse and slowly followed.

glanced at the little white dragon lightly, and Xuanzang sighed softly: "I heard that the Pandao is only for one year, wouldn't Ao Shizhu take the time to send the Pantao back first?"

"This..." Xiaobailong looked back at the location of the peach in the bag on the horse's back, and said with a dry smile: "I have to let the Great Sage allow me to walk away. Don't be afraid, I will pass by my house on the way to the west here, and I won't be able to pass it. How soon will it arrive."

Xuanzang nodded silently: "That's good. This way, I have wronged Lord Ao."

"Don't." Xiao Bailong quickly waved his hand and said, "Master Xuanzang must not say that. If the Great Sage hears it, he will probably give me a lesson."

Xuanzang smiled faintly, and the two walked side by side, gradually pulling a distance from the monkey.

Behind the rocks at the foot of the mountain, a monk quietly shrank his head and carefully observed the three of them.

Monkey immediately slowed down until it was parallel to Xuanzang, and he whispered: "Someone has been following us."

"Oh?" Xuanzang was slightly taken aback, and asked in a low voice, "Do you know who it is?"

"I don't know very well, the cultivation base is very weak, so it is slightly stronger than the mortals. That feeling, it should not be a person in the Taoist sect, nor a monster."

"So, it's Buddhism?" Xuanzang stretched out his hand and took out a map made of silk from a shelf on the horse's back. As he walked, he spread it out to look at it.

After a while, Xuanzang pointed to the mountain in front of him and whispered to the monkey: "There is a famous temple in front of you."

"Famous temple? Wouldn't it be Guanyin Temple?"

Hearing this, Xuanzang frowned slightly and said, "Does the Great Sage know?"

Monkey shook and said, "Needless to say, there is a Black Wind Mountain next to it."

Re-rolling the map in his hand and putting it back in his suitcase, Xuanzang asked softly, "Master, have you been here before?"

"I haven't been here, but it's better to take a detour." Monkey took a deep breath and sighed: "There may be an old monk who lived for hundreds of years in Guanyin Temple. He is very greedy. There may be a monk in Heifeng Mountain. Only a black bear spirit whose cultivation is not bad. I mean possible."

Walking slowly, Xuanzang asked casually, "Master, don't you want to meet with the old department?"

"It's not an old part." The monkey shook his head and said, "I don't know the black bear spirit at all, I'm just afraid of trouble. Now it's all said that eating your flesh can make you live forever, and taking your cassock can soar in the daytime. It's hard to guarantee. They won't have an idea."

"What if the poor monk wants to know that there are tigers in the mountains and go to the tiger's mountain?"

Monkey raised his eyebrows slightly and glanced at Xuanzang: "You can go, but don't leave me five steps away."

   "The poor monk understands."

  …

Incense is filled in a magnificent Buddhist temple on a high mountain in the distance, and the sound of chanting sutras can be heard incessantly.

A young monk flew through the empty courtyard with his front pendulum and went straight to the meditation room.

opened the door, and saw a middle-aged monk in the meditation room who looked no more than 40 or 50 years old, sitting upright, beating wooden fish and chanting sutras. This person is the monk beside Manjushri that day.

"Master, Master." The monk from that year ago said eagerly: "There was a demon monkey, a wandering monk and a layman who went up the mountain together. The wandering monk looked like Xuanzang mentioned by the master that day."

The hand of the monk who was beating the wooden fish suddenly gave a slight pause. Slowly open your eyes. He smiled and said, "Open the door to welcome you."

   "The disciple obeys."

  …

A bell rang all over the mountains.

From a distance, the three of them saw the magnificent Guanyin Temple located on the mountain peak.

The towering courtyard walls, the pagoda towers more than ten feet high, the clouds and smoke rose from the gaps between the buildings and floated high into the sky.

"Don't leave me five steps away." The monkey whispered again.

Xuanzang nodded silently, but Ao Lie on the side was stunned.

"Don't leave the five steps? We are just placing an order, is there anything else that can happen?"

didn't wait for Ao Lie to react. The vermilion door slammed open, and more than a dozen monks in blue robes filed out, lined up on both sides. In the middle, three people dressed in red cassocks who looked like eminent monks walked out.

The one in the middle is the monk who went to observe Xuanzang with Manjushri that day. He saw his hands clasped together and bowed to Xuanzang from a distance: "Poor monk Jin Chi, I have been waiting for Master Xuanzang for a long time."

After saying that, with a smile on his face, he walked towards the three of them step by step with the appearance of two other eminent monks.

Xuanzang folded his hands in return and said respectfully, "The poor monk Xuanzang, I have seen the Master of Jinchi. The poor monk is no more than a wandering monk. It is a great honor to bother the Master of Jinchi to greet him in person."

"Hey, Master Xuanzang, please don't be too polite." The Master Jinchi raised his sleeves, walked slowly to Xuanzang, smiled and stretched out his hand to hold Xuanzang, but was blocked by a monkey went back.

Jin Chi was startled and looked at the monkey with fear. The pair of eyes widened and said, "This is..."

Xuanzang said softly: "This is a friend of the poor monk, whose name is Sun Wukong. He is not from the Buddhist sect. He walked together on this journey, and the poor monk was able to keep it smooth thanks to his care. Don't blame."

The monks on the other side were watching the monkey vigilantly.

"Oh? Sun Wukong?" Jin Chi closed his eyes, glanced at the monkey lightly, and stretched out his hand: "Let's ask Master Xuanzang to sit in the temple."

After saying that, he raised his head and glanced at Monkey and Ao Lie a little and said, "The other two, since they're here, it's cool here, so let's invite them together."

The tone of   's words changed immediately, and the look of contempt in his eyes was even more faintly visible.

For a time, the monkey's brows could not help but frown slightly, and the little white dragon on the side was also looking at the monkey in horror, and even Xuanzang couldn't help but glance at the monkey.

How many years has no one dared to speak to him like this?

was stunned for a while, but the monkey just kept his mind and did not attack.

It was only at this point that Xuanzang and Ao Lie felt a little relieved.

The group walked slowly into the temple, Xuanzang walked side by side with Jinchi, Xuanzang said casually: "The matter of Xuanzang's westward journey has not been much fanfare, I don't know where the master of Jinchi learned that the poor monk is coming?"

"Master Xuanzang went west to seek the Dharma in order to purify all sentient beings. How can such a great cause be concealed even if it is not too much publicity? The poor monk naturally knows it."

Ao Lie leaned beside the monkey and said, "It's the same as not answering it, the old guy must have a problem."

"Shh, be quiet," the monkey replied in a low voice.

Looking around, the monks following the two seemed to be all focused on the monkeys and didn't pay any attention to Xuanzang in front of them. Some of them even turned pale with fright, and they even looked like they were walking. It is as mechanical as wearing a pair of high clogs.

"Hey, they know who I am, and they pretend to be pretty similar."

Xiaobailong pursed his lips and said in a low voice, "I have to admire them. If it were me, I wouldn't have the guts to pretend in front of you even if it gave me great benefits. This is a job that will make you lose your mind if you're not careful."

Detouring all the way, Jinchi warmly introduced the surrounding scenery, from the Arhat pine in front of the door, to the linden tree in the courtyard, to the towering Buddha Pagoda, the magnificent temple, the golden Buddha statues, one by one. , introduced it in detail, with a smug look in his words. From the beginning to the end, Xuanzang just nodded silently, watching casually without commenting.

This Guanyin Temple is not big enough to accommodate hundreds of monks. If you really want to visit it, it will take about half a day. But he had just walked a third of the way. Perhaps it was because of Xuanzang's indifferent response. Jin Chi seemed to be at a loss for words. He vibrated his sleeves and sat on the main seat.

When the tea was served, Jin Chi asked softly, "Master Xuanzang also took a look at the poor monk's Guanyin Temple. I don't know, how is it compared to your Jinshan Temple?"

Xuanzang put his hands together and said lightly: "The temple is magnificent and the scenery is pleasant, not comparable to Jinshan Temple."

"Oh?" Hearing this sentence, a smile appeared on Jin Chi's face again, he patted his thigh and said with a smile, "Then, what is the inadequacy, please ask Master Xuanzang to give pointers, I will also wait. Good correction."

"What's wrong with this..." Xuanzang hesitated for a moment, lowered his eyes, and said softly, "Everything is in order, but the word 'Buddha' is missing."

All the monks present were slightly taken aback and looked at Xuanzang.

Monkey also raised his eyebrows and looked at Xuanzang.

Hearing this, Jin Chi frowned, pursed his lips and thought for a while, and said with half-squinted eyes, "The poor monk doesn't understand, so please ask Master Xuanzang to clarify."

"Amitabha." Xuanzang clasped his hands together, glanced at the monks on both sides, and said, "It may be inconvenient to speak here."

"What's the inconvenience?" Jin Chi lowered his head and took a sip of his tea, then smiled faintly: "The poor monk is two hundred and seventy years old, and although his teaching power is weak, he has never been allowed to step into the Buddha realm. If there is any, it is better to take it out for everyone to see together, or let the poor monk know why Jin Chanzi lost the golden body of the Buddha that day."

Suddenly, the atmosphere in the entire hall became a little colder, it seemed that the speech had already been prepared, and everyone's eyes were focused on Xuanzang.

I saw that Xuanzang's expression was still the same, and he said softly: "Since the Master Jinchi said so, Xuanzang, too, is bold." (To be continued~^~)
